Engage Your Employees With Podcasting
Podcasting can be incorporated in to an internal communication strategy in many ways. Here are just a few possibilities.
Employee Engagement
Create a brief weekly or biweekly business update for employees delivered by the CEO or president. Employees located around the world can subscribe to an RSS feed to have the podcast delivered to their desktop automatically.
General News of Interest
The HR department can create a monthly podcast to disseminate information that is relevant and of interest to all employees. For example HR could communicate news about changes in health benefits, updates on training courses, new facilities opening or a summary of corporate wide job openings.
Training and Education
Each time a new product is launched, have the marketing team create a series of short 5-minute podcasts that offer descriptions of the features and benefits of the new product. The podcast will support and complement other communication channels that are used during the launch. The series could potentially be used to communicate with external stakeholders as well as internal employees.
Skill Sharing or Team Building
A sales director could deliver a quarterly 10-minute podcast to disburse best practices, closing techniques and general training information to sales reps.
Hearing information come directly from the source is a huge motivator for employees to listen to the podcast. Think about it – would you rather hear company information from your direct supervisor or straight from the CEO’s mouth? Influencing employees through emotional appeal is a key factor for employee engagement.
